We are inspired by stories.
An excerpt Jessie has written about living a Folktale Life. You can read more at http://www.folktalelife.com
Rooted deeply to the land and to their people, folktales have grown and wound organically around our collective psyche, teaching us in terrifying, humble, and very often ,humorous ways, lessons that ripple across generations. A heroine in a Folktale isn't just given other-worldly powers and comfortable, cushioned surroundings. Power and knowledge are things she uncovers along the way, through assistance from her community, and drawing from inner wisdom. The kind of magic expressed in folktales are animals, plants, bits of home baked bread, and houses built slowly by weathered hands. Obstacles and elemental forces are overcome through focusing on strengths and growing through weaknesses. A rose is never just a rose, there is always a deeper meaning and purpose. Little time is spent waiting around for magical solutions to problems, they are faced head-on as they arrive. There is an anticipated alchemical change that transpires through these stories as our heroines grow through tribulation and tests. Storytelling is comforting to humanity, especially in times of change and upheaval. Folktales, are living, breathing, evolving road maps for us to continually reference on this life journey. We’ll follow the Folktales.
